The Recovery Routine That Makes Your Training Stick

By Amanda Moore ·

The workout is only half the equation. Training breaks your body down; recovery is when it rebuilds stronger. Skip that half and you plateau, get injured, or burn out. Here's the recovery routine we coach at AMP — the stuff that keeps people training hard for years, not weeks.

Sleep is the non-negotiable

Nothing on this list matters if you're sleeping five hours a night. Sleep is when your body releases growth hormone, repairs tissue, and consolidates the motor patterns you practiced. Aim for seven to nine hours, and protect it like it's part of your program — because it is.

Use heat and cold on purpose

Our infrared saunas and cold plunge aren't just amenities — they're recovery tools. Heat boosts circulation and helps you unwind after a hard session; cold exposure can blunt soreness and sharpen you up. Even 10–15 minutes a couple of times a week can make the next training day feel noticeably better.

Move on your off days

Recovery doesn't mean lying on the couch. A walk, an easy bike, some mobility work, or a session in the stretch lounge keeps blood flowing and joints happy without adding stress. Active recovery almost always beats total rest for how you feel the next day.

Fuel and hydrate like it counts

You can't rebuild muscle without enough protein and calories, and you can't perform dehydrated. Anchor each day around solid protein intake, eat enough to support your training, and keep water nearby. Simple, consistent nutrition beats any complicated plan you won't stick to.

Build these habits around your training and consistency stops being a battle. Want help putting it all together? That's what our coaching is for.
